PIA Press Release

Filing of applications for CS Prof, Sub-Prof Exam ends Feb. 8

by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob

Cagayan de Oro City (2 February) -- Interested applicants for the Civil Service Professional and Sub-Professional Examinations on March 9, this year, are reminded of the Feb. 8 deadline for filing of applications.

Lawyer Lourdes Clavite-Vidal, Regional Director of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), region 10, also reminds the applicants to read the examination announcement carefully and not to apply if they are not qualified.

"Data in the application form should be in the applicants own, clear and legible handwriting and should not be typewritten," she said.

To go with the application form is a passport, size (1.5"x 2"), photo taken within 3 months with full nametag (neck level) and close-up face shot. Scanned, computer-generated/enhanced, photocopied, cutout and pictures without nametags are not accepted.

Clavite also warns the applicants to refrain from impersonation, cheating and other forms of examination irregularity which would lead to dismissal from government service and perpetual bar from taking CS exams, disqualification for re-employment in the government and/or imprisonment/fine.

Pursuant to CSC Resolution No. 021279 dated October 7, 2002, the taking of the CS Prof. or Sub-Prof. Exams, via Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) or the Computer-Assisted Test (CAT) shall be once in three months and up to four (4) times only.

Examinees falling on the 4th attempt may apply for the same level of the CS Exam only after two (2) years from the date of the 4th exam.

Meanwhile, Clavite said if the applicants fail to receive their notice of assignment five (5) days before the exam, they may visit or call the CSC-10 regional office to inquire about their room assignment.

On the exam day, applicants should bring their application receipt, one (1) blue or black ball pen, lead pencils No. 2 and erasers, their valid ID Card with photo, signature and birth date, if available and signature of authorized head of agency, office, school, postal ID, passport/license/BIR/SSS which should be the same as that presented at the time of the application because of the CSC policy of "No I.D., No. Exam."

Clavite also warns the applicants not to bring cellular phones and other materials outside of those above-listed, otherwise, these will be confiscated by the Security Officers and that the CSC will not be liable for the loss or damage of said belongings.

Moreover, the CSC-10 has announced the conduct of the following exams this year: CS Prof & Sub-Prof Exam on July 27 and Nov. 16., Local Scholarship Program-Master's Degree Course Comprehensive Exams on May 4, written stage of the Career Executive Officer Exam (CEOE) on June 8, Foreign Service Officer Exam (FSOE) qualifying test on May 4 and the Stenographer Exam every 2nd Friday of the month.

Clavite said failure of the applicant to come on the scheduled exam will mean forfeiture of exam fee and slot.

The exam fees are as follows: CS Prof & Sub-Prof, Php350, CEOE, Php700, Stenographer, Php200 and grant of CS Eligibility under Special Laws, such as, PD 907 for honor graduates of baccalaureate degrees and MC11 s. 1996 for Eligibility of Barangay Officials, Barangay Nutrition Scholars & Health Workers, etc., Php150.
