Davao City (12 February) -- Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers League in Region Eleven and the Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTEC) Association of Region Eleven forged recently a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at harmonizing and collaborating efforts of PESO and CTEC for amore effective implementation of labor and employment programs to benefit clients of both the labor department and local government units (LGUs).
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI Director and Labor Attache Jalilo O. dela Torre and TESDA XI Director Dr. Silvano B. Maranga, who both witnessed the MOA signing, cited the need to strengthen the program down to the massbase where government's services are less being felt by the people.
The recently-concluded signing of the MOA was represented by PESO Managers League in Region XI president Joseph D. Vingno and Ms. Ella Caballero of CTEC-XI held during the Regional Corplanning Workshop of ROXI personnel.
DOLE Assistant Regional Director Ofel Domingo said the MOA spells out the functions, responsibilities and roles of PESOs and CTECs in specific areas of training, employment, counseling and skills mapping.
The MOA also aims to link-up various local and institutional institutions who could actively participate in the job-generation of the government, which is one of the priority programs of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
One parameter of the success of PESO is the degree of direct correlation between government and private entities specifically in addressing the unemployment problem by way of the conduct of regular Jobs Fair which enables jobseekers find appropriate works, both locally and abroad.
