Davao City (12 February) -- The Hedcor Philippines, Inc. looks at other areas in the Davao Region for their hydropower plant projects until 2014.
President and chief operations officer Rene Ronquillo said already being assessed and studied are the five hydro projects in Davao City that will tap the rivers in Tamugan, Suwawon, Tambobong, Wines all in Calinan district.
He said what is being undertaken right now is a table survey on these areas to assess the viability of the project.
He also said that permits are already worked out with the appropriate government agencies.
Like in the Sibulan Hydropower Project, Ronquillo said they want to involve the community and share the ownership with the people.
Meanwhile he said Hedcor is also looking at Davao del Norte as an area for another hydropower plant project.
Although he said that there were no formal talks yet about it, they already cited the Camanlangan River as the possible source of water for the power project.
He said they look at 2014 as the target time for the project implementation.
He said just like the other projects, they need to secure permits and clearance like the Environment Clearance Certificate and the free and prior consent if the area falls under the ancestral domain of the indigenous peoples. (PIA XI) [top]
