Davao PESO-CTEC focuses on job opportunities

By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (13 February) -- In a bid to generate more employment opportunities, the Public Employment Office (PESO) and Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTEC) spelled out strategies aimed at providing more job opportunities for jobseekers.

Just very recently, PESO Managers League and CTEC Association both in region eleven inkrd a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to harmonize government efforts for a more effective implementation of employment generation agenda, one of the priority programs of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI Director and Labor Attache Atty. Jalilo O. dela Torre and TESDA XI Director Dr. Silvino B., Maranga, both witnessed the signing of the MOA.

PESO Managers and CTEC pledged to strengthen job employment opportunities and provide assistance for jobseekers.

The MOA signing was represented by PESO Managers League president Joseph D. Vingno and Ms. Ella Caballero of CTEC-XI held during the Regional Corplanning Workshop of ROXI personnel.

DOLE Assistant Regional Director Ofel Domingo said the MOA also spells out the respective functions, responsibilities and roles of PESOs and CTECs in specific areas of training, employment, counseling and skills mapping.

The MOA also aims to link-up various local and institutional institutions who could actively participate in the job-generation of the Administration as envisioned by the President.

One parameter of the success of the President's Job Generation program is the degree of direct correlation between government and private entities specifically in addressing the unemployment problem by conducting regular Jobs Fair which enables jobseekers find appropriate work, both locally and abroad.
