Tacloban City (February 14) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 8 Director Karina Rosa Tiopes expressed satisfaction in the enthusiasm shown by the Eastern Visayas local government units and the private sector, in joining the 4th Cebu International Travel Show 2008 which is scheduled to be conducted on March 7-9, 2008 at the SM Cebu City Trade Hall.
Director Tiopes disclosed that this early, the cities of Baybay, Borongan, Maasin and Tacloban, the provinces of Leyte, Biliran and Southern Leyte and the municipalities of Sogod, Pintuyan and Hinunangan, all of Southern Leyte, have already confirmed their participation in the said Cebu activity.
Aside from the local government units in Eastern Visayas, the tourism private sector, particularly Leyte Gulf Travel and Tours and the Leyte First Travel Agency Phils., Inc., have also signified their intention to participate.
Director Tiopes is optimistic that more participants from Region 8 will soon signify their intention to join said tourism event.
For the past two year, Director Tiopes said, the Vis-Min Travel and Lifestyle Show has proven to be a great investment opportunity for most of the exhibitors. The three day affair attracted over 12,800 registered trade buyers coming from all over the country that resulted in a total reported on-site sales of over P21 million.
Joining the Vis-Min Travel and Lifestyle Show 2008 is an opportunity to interface and build relationship with customers and regular buyers, Director Tiopes said. It is also a great chance to boost sales by selling directly to almost all the target customers and close sales cost effectively.
Further, it is a good venue to reach new prospects that have not been reached in the past and educate customers on the quality and benefits of the tourism products in the Region.
The 4th International Visayas-Mindanao Travel Show is co-organized by the Cebu Travel and Tours Association and the Cebu Association of Tour Operators, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism, the Office of the Cebu City Mayor and the Office of the Cebu Provincial Governor. (PIA 8) [top]
