Davao strengthens security measures at port of entries

Davao City (15 February) -- The Port Management Office of Davao and the Philippine National Police are collaborating its efforts in strengthening security measures to safeguard the lives and properties of port users.
Security measures are being undertaken at all port of entries in a united effort of the PMO-Davao. The Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao to harmonize the over-all security set-up at the port, this is also one of the security provisions one of the functions and mandates of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and the PNP.
The security set-up was undertaken in response to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's agenda to protect and safeguard the lives and properties of the people in ports, terminals, and port of entries in cities and ports and terminals.
In providing total security to persons and properties especially inside port and entries, the Davao port management office collaborated its efforts with the police and other concerned government entities to enhance anti-terrorism measures in port of entries in Davao City.
Before they are allowed to board, passengers and baggage cargo of vessels leaving from Davao port are subjected to strict security inspection, according to PNP City Director Jaime Morente. (PIA) [top]
