Investments on promotional materials and collaterals for tourism urged

by Prix D Banzon

Davao City (19 February) -- There is a need for government to invest more on collaterals and other promotional materials in order for the tourism industry to reach out to as many clients around the globe.

Susan Palad, president of the Davao Travel Agencies at the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City event center said that the materials are too limited that they could not provide many of their clients who have been asking for information about the place, especially Davao.

"There are materials but very limited," she said.

She urged the local government units and even the national government to support the efforts to come up with needed information materials that would best suit the need of the client.

Palad said that these materials must also include those not yet seen by tourists and must be available when the tourism sector participates travel shows in other countries.

She admitted the limited resources that would bar them from reaching out more to foreign tourists.

However she said that domestic tourism had been the greater anchor of the industry that is why local destinations are now a hit.

Meanwhile she said that in order for us to get a slice of what other countries are enjoying which is the influx of more tourists; Davao must bid for all kind of events.

"We need to do this to get them here in our city," she said. (PIA) [top]
