Ulama League supports PGMA

Davao City (28 February) -- Reelected regional chairman of the Ulama League of the Philippines-Southern Mindanao, Alem Mahmod Mala L. Adilao stressed today their unending support to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and all her development programs which benefited the Muslim people

During the Ulama League regular meeting (February 22) and election of new officers for 2008 Adilao urged his Muslim brothers to be united in helping pursue peace and development in Mindanao and not be distracted by the unfounded graft and corruption and alleged anomalies hurled against the Arroyo administration.

"We believe in the President's sincerity in her pursuit of peace and development in Mindanao that seeks to usher the rehabilitation of Muslim Mindanao especially in the conflict-affected and potential conflict areas," ULP-SM chair Alem Adilao said.

"The unfounded corruption and speculations by the political enemies of the Arroyo administration tends to diminish Muslim's trust on the leadership of the President, Adilao added.

Instead of listening to this distractions, "we should coordinate our efforts with the President's overall agenda and let's support the task on Peace Building and Conflict Prevention," Adilao said as he expounded on the touch-base development initiatives undertaken by the President to uplift the lives of the Muslim people.

One of the President's agenda in uplifting and developing the Muslim communities is the implementation of Mindanao National Initiatives to rehabilitate Muslim Mindanao, he said.

Included in these reformulated Mindanao Initiatives are: the implementation of Republic Act 9054 in the pursuit of GRP-MILF final peace agreement; rehabilitation of conflict-affected areas in Mindanao; health development for the Muslim communities; livelihood support for the Muslim people; land tenure improvement and agriculture development; implementation of the Regional Economic Zone Authority; infrastructure development for inter-connectivity in Muslim-conflict areas; and reconciliation and integration programs for the Muslim especially in Mindanao's conflict areas.

Newly elected officers of the ULP-SM are: Chairman- Alem Adilao; Vice Chair Alem Hossien Abdulwahab; Secretary Alem Talib Mustapha; Treasurer Ustadz Hasan Malang; Auditor Ustadz Abdulrahman Solaiman; PRO Ahmad Ampuan; Peace Officer Ustadz Ismael usman; Bus.
