Health dep't enhances tots' growth
ILAGAN, Isabela (February 29) -- Through the years the Department of Health has been enhancing child growth and development by pushing vigorously its pre and post natal health programs designed to give the best care to both the mother and the child.
This was the response of Dr. Purita S. Danga, regional director for DOH Cagayan Valley to a multi-sectoral audience that participated in the LGU-led Malayang Talakayan ng Mga Bata (Children's Forum).
The forum, participated in mainly by elementary and high school students and out-of-school youth below 18 years old, accorded the children opportunity to express their sentiments and aspirations in life and assert their protective, developmental, survival and participation rights before leaders of both government, non-government and people's organizations.
The health official assured the children that her agency's programs are replete with interventions or measures that give the best attention to the child while still in the mother's womb up to the time he/she is delivered into this world.
"Let me assure you that the DOH, in partnership with other allied health and medical service providers, is always in the frontline giving you the utmost care and attention to your health needs", Danga said.
Other leaders in government and non-government sectors who echoed their respective organization's programs for child development included those from the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, University of La Salette Pananagutan Center in Santiago City, Department of Justice, Philippine National Police and Local Government Units.
The annual Talakayan is organized and implemented by various agencies under the auspices of the provincial government headed by Gov. Grace Padaca who, by tradition, delivers the State of the Children's Address. (PIA Isabela) [top]
