Davao City (1 March) -- After the irrevocable resignation of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), another chief executive is now being eyed by the people to take the throne.
Host governor of the recently concluded Local Peace and Security Assembly Governor Rodolfo del Rosario brushed off speculations that he has been offered the chairmanship.
"I haven't been offered but I am willing to take the responsibility if it is given to me," del Rosario clarified.
RDR joined the other governors in the region in calling for Mayor Duterte's reconsideration and for the latter to remain in the said post as they have seen the clear achievements of the former RPOC chair.
At the moment, the position is open as President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is yet to appoint the new chairperson.
Meanwhile, del Rosario cited some of the gains achieved from the recently held Local Peace and Security Assembly held in his province which was participated by chief executives and representatives from all sectors in the community.
He said that the region has now a clear direction as to what to prioritize in dealing with peace and security concerns in the different provinces of Region XI.
The best thing gained from the assembly is the voice of every representative in the society which form part in drafting the suggestions raised by the body, heard by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself who attended the LPSA. (PIA) [top]
