Obama to formally accept presidential nomination next month

by Romy Sabaldan

Davao City (9 July) -- Barack Obama will formally accept the Democratic nomination for president of the United States of America on Thursday, August 28, 2008 in a Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

This was announced today in an E-Mail message to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) by David Plouffe, Campaign Manager of Obama For America.

Plouffe said "we're going to kick off the general election with an event that opens up the political process the same way we've opened it up throughout the campaign."

He said it will be an event that America and its allies will never forget.

Plouffe added that Barack Obama also made it clear that the coming national convention will be the convention of the American people and their supporters, not his. (PIA XI) [top]
