City of Mati, Davao Oriental (12 July) -- After a year of governing the province of Davao Oriental, Gov. Corazon Malanyaon has one beautiful realization that she imparted to the mayors in the province, realization that has earned the trust of her constituents.
Speaking before the mayors in the recently concluded League of Municipalities of the Phil.-Dvo Or Chapter meeting, Malanyaon reiterated that she never did a mistake in making the uplliftment of the delivery of health services the top priority in her executive agenda.
"It dawn on me only now, that the tremendous support I got during the campaign days was because of my determination to improve the delivery of health services. True, infrastructure development and other concerns also count, but addressing the health needs is different because life is precious," she said.
With the 6.5 million pesos investment for the new Out Patient Dept building, she never thought that this could give more to the province.
"Who would expect that the Dept. of Health will reimburse the amount because the department has seen how we work hard in achieving this. And not only that, there is a download of 49 million pesos from the department, another 300 thousand pesos assistance, and the 500 million pesos assistance from the European Commission," the Governor reported.
The Davao Oriental Integrated Provincial Health Office has already made the rationalization plan to justify that we are worth the said assistance from the European Commission.
The Chief Executive also calls on all the Mayors to prioritize the Sentrong Sigla project, a project that is every important to DOH.
"We have to excel on this. We have to prove that we are worthy of their recognition and trust. Davao Oriental is now the baby of the department, and it's an honor," she added.
In the meeting, Gov. Malanyaon promised to provide the municipalities of the province with ambulances, and emphasized the necessity of doctors in each of the municipalities.
"The hospital might be complete with equipments and upgraded facilities, but it will all be futile if nobody is going to render the services needed," she explained.
She is happy with the fact that the improved delivery of health services is now felt by residents of Davao Oriental.
The neophyte Governor earlier expressed hope that the province and the local government units will have one direction in public service, particularly in health services, in the light of a continuing effort towards "One Smile One Heart, and One Mind" for Davao Oriental. (PIA) [top]
