BFAD issues advisory against specified batches of Glutathione products

Davao City (16 July) -- The Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Food and Drugs has issued a health advisory warning and advising the public on the recall of specified batch/lot of Glutathione products.
According to DOH-BFAD Health Advisory No. 2008-006 The said batches/lot have been found out to contain less than the amount of Glutathione they purport to possess. These products are:
- Glutalife Dietary Supplement (Batch No. 20078019),
- Lucidea-DS/Gluthatione 500 mg (Lot no. 168015L)
- Vaniderm/Dietary Supplement (Lot No. 168015V)
The DOH-BFAD has directed the importers/ distributors to immediately establish or present evidences to the BFAD that will assure that the other batches of their products in question contain the amount of Glutathione they declare to possess.
BFAD has enjoined to refrain from distributing, selling the above-mentioned batches/lot of the said products as these are subject to recall.
Glutathione is an antioxidant found in the body that protects cells from toxins such as free radicals. Aside from boosting the immune system, one of Gluthatione's side effects is its ability to whiten skin. Thus, Glutathione products have become popular in the country for its skin whitening factor.
