4th nat'l workshop on civil registration set in Davao

Davao City (29 July) -- National Statistics Office (NSO) XI Director Jaime Paller announced today that the three-day 4th National Workshop on Civil Registration is scheduled here in Davao City on August 25-27, 2008 at the Davao City Convention & Trade center along F. Torres Street.

This year's theme is: "Tamang Rehistro, Daan sa Kinabukasan mo."

Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and NSO Administrator Carmelita N. Ericta will give the Welcome and Message respectively. Notable guests were invited to grace the 4th national convention here in Davao which included Vice Mayor Inday Sarah Z. Duterte- Carpio, the guest speaker on August 27 will be Bayani Fernando of MMDA. The event will be graced by all regional executive heads of NSO throughout the country to be participated in by the city, municipal and provincial registrars, non-government organizations (NGOs), city and municipal mayors, active barangay secretaries involved in birth registration, and media practitioners.

We are requesting all local chief executives across the country for their civil registrar officers to attend the 3-day national convention to be updated on civil registration, Director Paller said.

All senior personnel of the NSO nationwide will be coming here to participate in this important workshop, he said.

A speech on the theme "Tamang Rehistro, Daan sa Kinabukasan mo" will be given by NSO consultant Tomas P. Africa; Uses of Civil Registration Documents - by Paula Monina Collado, NSO deputy administrator; Updates on Civil Registration (birth, death & marriage) - by Lourdes Hufana, NSO Director on Civil Registration dept;

Philippine Medical Records Association, Birth and Death - by Lani Paler, Chief, Medical Records Service of Davao Medical Center; Philippine Midwives' Assocation, Vorth & Maternal Death - by Rebecca San Luis-Valdivia, VP, Integrated Midwives Association of the Phils';

Shari'a Court by Narumbai Dilangalen-Datukon, Shari'a District Registrar; and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples by Dra. Lilibeth Malabanan, chief, TMSD, NCIP XI.

To act as moderators are: RD Raul Dones, NSO Reg V111; RD Salvador Aves, NSO-X; RD Alfredo Batoy, NSO-1; RD Maqtahar Manulon, NSO-X11; and RD Norman Julag-ay, NSO-V1.

One of the highlights of the national convention is the Awarding of Outstanding LCROs; Civil Registration Quiz to be led by RD Flordeliza Monteclaro meanwhile a topic on the Best Practices in Civil Registration will also be discussed. (PIA) [top]
