Mulatto's duathlon, a test of endurance
Davao City (30 July) -- WOMEN and men duathlon enthusiasts in this city get to have another test of their physical prowess as the Mulatto Outdoor Shop stages the Off-Road Duathlon on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Maa diversion road, just 5 kilometers away from downtown Davao City.
The duo of Jerson Royana and Jhune Bacus, Mulatto's race director and event coordinator respectively visited the Sportswriters Communication Organization of the Philippines (Scoop-Davao) during its regular Tuesday forum at the Royal Mandaya Hotel to announced the event.
It will be a combined 38 kilometers of (run-bike-run) mountain biking and of running the trail starting at the Shell Maa diversion road going up to the scenic Magtu-od and Barangay Langub, Jerson and Bacus announced.
For men, the participants will traverse a distance of five kilometers running, 30 kilometers biking and three kilometers final run. For women, the starting run is a shorter 3-kilometer run, 30-km. bike and 1.5 km. final run.
Jerson said their next event will test the mettle of duathlon athletes in the open expert (male-female) category of 20 years old and below, 21-30 years old and the 31-36 and older.
The race offers cash prizes of P3,000 for the male champion and P2,000 for the female winner plus medals.
Interested participants can register at the Mulatto Outdoor Shop along C.M. Recto St. (formerly Claveria), this city. Registration fee is P250 inclusive of souvenir jersey, meals and race kit. Deadline of registration is August 15, 2008. (PIA XI) [top]
