Davao coop holds 26th annual general membership assembly

City of Mati, Davao Oriental (31 July) -- It was an unprecedented attendance in the history of DORECO's annual general membership assembly, as member consumers hurdled their way to DORECO's Gymnasium for the said event, showing again their unceasing support to the cooperative.
On July 24, 2008, DORECO held it's 26th Annual General Membership Assembly designed to foster stronger ties with and among the member consumers, and give them updates on how the cooperative is working for them, and instill an insight of what lies ahead for them and the cooperative.
"We did not expect that we got more than our expected attendance in the assembly. This proved that member consumers now really have the concern, and it manifested their willingness to remain a vital part of DORECO's existence and operation, beamed General Manager Engr. Gregory Dukil.
He added that DORECO has paid it's obligations, particularly that of TRANSCO, and it has been paying their employees very promptly.
Dukil also adhered to the move of developing and establishing hydro electric power plants in the province.
"Alternative sources of power should be given focus. We should not be totally dependent to our existing power source," he stressed.
With DORECO's culture of working and leading by mind and heart, it has engulfed into some corporate social responsibilities.
"We are just starting, but I guess it's a good start. We have provided two housing units for GAWAD KALINGA, and we have some sponsors, helping our fisher folks by providing them with pump boats, and we are also into goat raising with beneficiary residents of Governor Generoso, in coordination with the Big Rivers Electric Cooperative based in Kentucky, USA," he disclosed.
In the assembly also, DORECO Staff and member consumers unanimously expressed desire to remain under the helm of the National Electrification Administration, NEA.
The General Manager explained that NEA is doing well in managing rural electric cooperatives, and it has been following policies.
DORECO gave Plaques of Appreciation to 8 local government units of Davao Oriental for the prompt payment of their power bills.
Gov. Corazon Malanyaon who graced the occasion, recognized the achievement of DORECO over the years, and it's vital part in the progress of the province through electrification.
"We share the same thrust, through unity we can serve far better. With the culture now that you (DORECO) have, we can do things with a smile, collaborate efforts with one mind, and work with a heart for our people," she said. (DXHM City of Mati-PIA XI) [top]
