Davao metro shuttle bus to provide seats for breastfeeding mothers

by Rose B Palacio

Davao City (5 August) -- The Metro Shuttle Bus is the first public utility bus which has accepted the invitation of the Department of Health (DOH) to be a "Breastfeeding Friendly Bus Transport."

DOH ASEC of Health and concurrent Regional Director Dr. Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial said that under the "Breastfeeding Friendly Bus Transport" project, special chosen seats in the bus will be provided for breastfeeding mothers as a support of Metro Shuttle Bus for said government project.

The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is also supporting the project and has made available a breastfeeding room as one of its passengers' facilities, ASEC Ubial said.

On August 6 (Wednesday), a blessing and inauguration of these facilities and a press conference will be held at DCOTT compound. Media practitioners are invited for the news conference to start at 11:30 noontime after the inauguration rites will be finished.

Expected guests are DCOTT officials, Metro Shuttle administrator, Davao City officials, and representatives from the World Health Organization, UNICEF and DOH-Manila. (DOH XI/PIA) [top]
