CMDF conducts seminar on construction testing for field engineers

Davao City (5 August) -- The Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct a Seminar on Construction Materials Testing for Field Engineers. The seminar which is scheduled on August 11-15, 2008 will consist of lectures and laboratory exercises. The lecture sessions will be at Villa Margarita, Bajada, Davao City while the laboratory exercises will be at Allado Testing Laboratory, Mintrade Drive in Agdao.

The 5-day seminar is intended for technical personnel conducting field tests, material preparation/ sampling for further laboratory testing in the project site for quality control. It is designed for field engineers supervising such tests and/or materials quality control procedures. Other prospective participants are Project Engineers, Materials/Quality Control Engineers, Construction Project Inspectors and Contractors.

At the end of the seminar/workshop, the participants are expected to: have a working knowledge on the different types of field test being conducted for different construction materials;

  • be able to take/prepare samples for laboratory testing;
  • perform field test with the use of minimum testing equipment;
  • prepare design mix for concrete; and
  • prepare various test reports.

A registration fee of Php 4,000 per participant will be charged to cover the instructional materials, consumables, meals and certificates. Interested participants may contact Ms. Jane G.
