Commentary: Singing a Different Tune
By Danny O. Sagun
Dagupan City (19 August) -- JDV is now singing a different tune as regards Cha-Cha. He wants it to happen after 2010 and for a Constitutional Convention to do so, not by Congress acting as constituent assembly.
He has parted ways with PGMA so he does not want her to stay there beyond June 30 in 2010. Changing the Charter now is suspicious as it may eventually benefit the present Malacanang occupant, he said sounding a true blue opposition.
We may be mistaken, but we think he was strongly batting for a Cha-cha before because a shift to parliamentary system would give him a chance to become the head of government which he failed to achieve in 1998 courtesy of Erap. Many others viewed it that way.
Well, he is a material for prime minister. Who knows he may one day become such although age would be fast catching him.
On why he is taking his time taking the witness stand in the Senate investigation on the ZTE controversy, he said he has yet to complete his medical treatment in Singapore, after which, he said he would be "ready to do my duty to my people." Just a matter of time, he adds.
Many wonder why he seems to hesitate to spill the beans on his former benefactor purportedly on health reasons. He is seen busy distributing GI sheets throughout the fourth district and there's no hint he is sick. Huh? There may be other reasons aside from the timing(PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
