Panabo Rotary reaches out to daycare children
By MLU, RCCP
Panabo City (29 August) -- Regular dental habits amongst poor families in the city have been oftentimes ignored due to higher prices of commodities and dental services of private practitioners. Mostly, the victims of this dilemma are the children.
Aiming to see brighter smiles in the children of the city, the Rotary Club of Central Panabo recently donated toothbrushes and toothpastes to the 30 children of Datu Abdul Day Care Center, Via Vida.
Chaired by Darius Bersamen, the Rotary joined the Early Child Care Development Program of the City Government of Panabo, through assisting the latter in the provision of said supplies.
After giving the dental supplies, City Dentist Dr. Nuena Guerrero demonstrated to the children the proper way of brushing and also conducted a dental check-up to the children.
Started last July of this year, the Rotary coordinated with the government on programs on health, nutrition and environment.
As of now, the Rotary of this city gave out dental medicines for the Dental Outreach in Crystal, Gredu, which accommodated around 30 residents and joined the Mass Blood Donation in Brgy. San Nicolas.
Aside from that, the Rotary distributed one computer and one hospital bed each to the public elementary schools in Buenavista and San Nicolas.
As stated in the Memorandum of Agreement between the Rotary and the Department of Education, the computers will be used as a learning tool for the Alternative Learning System. (PIA) [top]
