Leyte Gov lauds LCCI for support to Leyte industry

Tacloban City (October 9) -- Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla commended the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry for providing the impetus that will encourage more investors to come to the province of Leyte, through its spearheading the 2nd Leyte Business Month celebration.

In a message read for him by Board Member Evangeline Esperas during the October 7 Launching Program for the Leyte Business Month celebration, Leyte Governor Petilla said that the Provincial Government of Leyte fully supports this undertaking which will run for one whole month because while the government provides an environment that is friendly towards investors, the private sector must take the lead in inviting more investors to the province.

Governor Petilla noted that when investors decide to locate in an area, aside from the aspects of industrial peace, communication facilities and power, what is always asked is the presence of a strong and cohesive business community in the area.

Governor Petilla said that the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry took the cudgels of spearheading activities that will showcase what the province could offer and what other investments local businessmen can go into.

The 2nd Leyte Business Month celebration will focus on the promotion of the province's different business potentials in tourism, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), agriculture and Micro, Small and Medium industries through various activities to be undertaken by supporting government agencies via a series of seminars, exhibits, trade fairs, tour prospects, among others.

Governor Petilla also expressed his appreciation of the help extended by the various government agencies, because without their help, the 2nd Leyte Business Month celebration will not become a reality.

Through a Provincial Ordinance drafted and approved last year, the whole month of October has been declared as the official business month of the province of Leyte, starting in the year 2007 and in the years to come.

Both the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Provincial Government of Leyte agree that the holding of the Business Month will go a long way in the promotion of Leyte not only as a tourism destination but a place investor could go in order to make good business. (PIA 8) [top]
