RDC 8 goes on a cross visit to Cebu
Tacloban City (October 12) -- The Development Administration Committee of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas is scheduled to conduct a cross visit to Cebu City on October 28-30, 2008.
Department of Budget and Management Regional Director Imelda Laceras who is the chairman of the committee, informed that the Cross Visit is aimed at giving the opportunity for the DAC members to learn from the experiences and achievements of the Provincial and City Governments of Cebu along the area of governance.
Director Laceras said that the Committee will be on the look-out for possible replication in Eastern Visayas of the best practices on governance of the province of Cebu and the City of Cebu.
Considering the time constraints, the Committee will also conduct its 4th quarter meeting on October 30 in Cebu City, in time for the RDC proper meeting in November.
Director Laceras called on the members of the Committee to fill up the confirmation slips sent to them by the Secretariat and submit the same on or before October 15.
The Committee will have a chance to make a courtesy call to Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena and will be briefed on the City Village Mediators Project and the Cebu City CDC Enhanced Structure.
During the courtesy call to Governor Gwen Garcia, the Committee will be briefed on the province as the best RPOC in 2008; the Economic Enterprise Council; the Updated Provincial Revenue Code; and the PS Outsourcing.
The Group will also visit the Cebu Provincial Jail where a briefing and presentation of the "Dancing Inmates" will be conducted.
On October 30, a sharing with the RDC 7 DAC and an RDC 8 Meeting will be conducted before the group goes back to Region 8. (PIA 8) [top]
