US Embassy donates P10-M worth of bomb detection paraphernalia to PNP XII
ICC General Santos City (14 October) -- Central Mindanao Police Chief Supt. Felizardo Serapio Jr., is elated to receive from the US Embassy a P10-million worth of bomb detection paraphernalia boosting their fight against terrorism.
Serapio is confident that with the newly acquired equipment, police security efforts will be efficiently enhanced.
The donation comprised of bomb suit kit, X-ray machine, detector and other bomb investigation tools.
Police Supt. Franklin Alvero, chief of the regional Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) of the Police Regional Office XII said the bomb paraphernalia is very important especially now that the region is into armed conflict with the lawless Moro Islamic Liberation Front group (LMG).
Alvero, in a press statement issued to media, described the equipment as vital in the "preservation of law and order and anti-terrorism efforts of the government in the region."
The EOD serves as the custodian of the donation housed in the newly inaugurated building of the Regional Bomb Squad Unit at Camp Fermin Lira here. (PIA SarGen) [top]
