PIA Press Release
2008/10/23

October 31, November 3 are ordinary working days

Tacloban City (October 23) -- In response to the many querries, October 31, Friday, and November 3, Monday, are ordinary working days, Malacanang said.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita informed that there would be no additional holidays for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2 which fall on a Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Secretary Ermita, however said that traditionally, government agencies allow their respective employees to work half-day on October 31 in order to enable them to go home to their provinces for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls Day.

Even if November 1 which is a special non-working holiday as provided for by Proclamation No. 1463, falls on a Saturday, October 31 and November 3 will not be declared holidays, Secretary Ermita said.

Proclamation 1463 was issued by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, declaring the regular holidays and special non-working days for the year 2008. (PIA 8) [top]
