Techno transfer demo slated at SM Recycling Market Fair

by Prix D Banzon

Davao City (5 November) -- SM Recycling Market Fair is not just buying waste materials, but is also into techno transfer demo of christmas décor making which can be availed by interested individuals.

The SM City Davao in partnership with the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry thought of providing workshop that would make enterprising individuals come up with projects in time for Christmas.

SM and DCCCII had long been partners for advocating environmental protection and conservation through the regular conduct of recycling activity every month.

Local scrap buyers are gathered to redeem recyclable materials with cash from any local institutions or group and individuals.

The November fair will highlight the Christmas décor-making demo that will be crafted out of waste materials such as plastic, cellophane and used papers.

SM invited the members of USWAG-Bubai Cooperative to share their knowledge and provide step-by-step methods in making Christmas décor out of recyclable wastes.

This Cooperative is composed mostly of women from the eight barangays in Toril District who were trained on recycling.

The group is the recipient of the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP) of the Australia Agency for International Development (AusAID) that was implemented by DCCCII with the clustered Barangay Council for Women in Toril.

Interested parties regarding the activity may call DCCCII office at 221-4148 and look for Ana Jalipa. (PIA) [top]
