LTO releases schedule of revised fines, penalties

Davao City (6 November) -- Region XI is set to follow the revised rates of Land Transportation Office fines and penalties for traffic and administrative violations.
This Department Order No. 2008-39 was approved by Secretary Leandro Mendoza last August 26.
With the new order, driving without license would require one to pay P1,500, another P1,000 for those driving with suspended or revoked or improper license.
A fine of P5,000 is required from those driving under the influence of liquor and two months suspension of driver's license, another P5, 000 and 3 months suspension for the second offense, and P7,000 with 6 months suspension for subsequent violations.
Failure to carry certificate of registration or official receipt of registration has an equivalent fine of P150.
A P500 fine is given to drivers with load extending beyond the projected width without permit, a P400 fine for baggage or freight carried on top of truck exceeding 20 kilograms per square meter.
Operators or owners who committed out of line will have to pay P6,000 for the first offense and additional P1,500 per day reckoned from the day of apprehension until the case was settled and suspension of registration and impoundment of the MV for three months.
For this offense, drivers will have to pay P250 for first offense and suspension of license for three months.
Parking violations would entail a fine of P200 which includes parking within an intersection, within 5 meters of the intersection, 4 meters from the driveway entrance, and in front of a private driveway.
Committing reckless driving has an equivalent fine of P1, 000 for the first offense, P1, 500 for the second offense and suspension of the license for two months. (PIA) [top]
