By Ninfa B Quirante

Catbalogan City (18 November) -- Some 20 unemployed youths will be added to the newly employed population as a result of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Service Caravan held at the Imelda Park, Catbalogan City yesterday.

Some 200 students, government employees from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), DOLE, Philippine Overseas and Employment Authority (POEA), National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), TESDA and non-government organizations swarmed the Samar capitol park for DOLE's service caravan.

Private entities like Bayantel (a telecommunications company) and Taytay sa Kauswagan (a lending company) immediately hired more than 20 personnel.

The service caravan is going on simultaneously in the country to provide job matching, and special recruitment.

Job seekers just have to register in a computer their preferred jobs, their skills and aptitude and the e job net matches some job hiring already registered. If they match, the job seeker is then hired.

Other activities like TESDA's career guidance and advocacy program was also offered in the same venue.

Another important aspect of job hunting like pre employment counseling was offered.

People's organization from Zumarraga, Calbiga, Sta Margarita, Tarangnan and Catbalogan also flocked to the caravan in support of the various programs of DOLE and its allied agencies.

With the end goal of hiring and sounselling job seekers, DOLE Samar Provincial head Fe Estrella said that some 19 other service caravans have been scheduled in Calbayog City, Allen and Catarman in N. Samar, Borongan and Guiuan in Eastern Samar and in other key cities and municipalities in Leyte. (PIA-Samar) [top]
