Davao bank advocates savings, thriftiness

Davao City (19 November) -- Real Bank continues its advocacy as it embarks on various activities that focuses on teaching savings and thriftiness among Davao City school children.
In a press statement, Real Bank said that it will spearhead On-th-Spot Essay, Painting and Story Telling Contests on November 25, 2008 at the Ma-a Elementary School.
The contest will start at 9 am until 5 pm and is open to all pupils from Grade 1 to 6 both public and private schools in Davao City.
The participating elementary schools are those in Mintal, Agdao, Ma-a, Sta. Ana, A. Mabini, Garcia Heights, Cesario Villa Abrille, Wireless, Dizon and the Matina Comprehensive Elementary School, Davao Wisdom Academy and the University of the Immaculate Concepcion.
The endeavor is part of Real Bank's comprehensive school program carried out in tri-partnership with the Department of Education and Mary Lindbert International.
Now on its fifth year, the program began in elementary schools in the National Capital Region, Regions III and IV-A.
Real Bank chairman of the Board Jose Araullo said that it has added schools in the Visayas and Mindanao increasing the scope of the project from 45 to 100 schools nationwide.
The Real Bank pioneering program had been designed to enhance the knowledge of children on thriftiness with workbooks and reading materials that the bank created. (PIA) [top]
