Marijuana supply intercepted in Kapalong
Tagum City (28 November) -- Barangay Tanods of Barangay Suaon in Kapalong, Davao del Norte over the weekend foiled an attempt to transport 1.2 kilograms of dried marijuana to Tagum City.
Basing on police investigation reports, Kapalong Municipal Information Officer Cristy Jean Ganiera said the Tanods accidentally stumbled upon the narcotics when they responded to a road accident in Sitio Sambayan in Suaon at about 4:30 p.m. on November 23.
Riding on a motorcycle, a certain fish vendor Gerry Ramos hit another motorcycle driven by Ruel Cordero, a resident of Mabantaw, Kapalong who had with him a passenger named Imboc Bata of Tapil, Gupitan.
Ganiera said the Tanods responding to the incident noticed that Bata threw a bundle into the bushes near the area where the motorcycle mishap happened.
The Tanods brought the injured Cordero to the hospital but at the same investigated the suspicious act of Bata.
Upon finding out that what Bata threw was a bundle of dried marijuana, the Tanods held Bata for questioning by police authorities, Ganiera said.
Ganiera said police authorities suspected the marijuana supply came from Gupitan, a far-flung barangay of Kapalong. (PIA/JMDA) [top]
