Tribu Paghidaet, Tribu Kasag chosen 2009 Dinagyang's best
Iloilo City (2 February) -- Tribu Paghidaet of Lapaz National High School and Tribu Kasag of Banate, Iloilo bagged the championships in the Ati and Kasadyahan competitions, respectively, of this year's Dinagyang Festival.
This is the second year that Tribu Paghidaet topped the Ati Competition, one of the highlights of the Dinagyang Festival that capped the week-long festivities. It bested 16 other competing tribes this year.
Tribu Paghidaet also won the minor awards that include the Best in Costume, Music, Performance and Choreography and special awards for Best in Head Dress and Costume. Its choreographer Ramil Huyatid was also named the Best Choreographer.
Adjudged first runner-up was Tribu Bola-bola of Iloilo National High School, 2nd runner-up, Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial High School, 3rd runner-up, Tribu Silak of Iloilo City National High School, and 4th runner-up, Tribu Himal-us of the province of Guimaras.
Other minor awardees were Tribu Bola –Bola for Best in Street Dancing and Tribu Atub-Atub, Best in Discipline.
Tribu Kasag of Banate bested the five other participating tribes in the Kasadyahan Festival to win the championship in this year's Kasadyahan contest.
It also went home the special awards for Best in Production Design, Choreography and Performance.
Tribu Saad of Leganes won 1st prize, Tribu Madya-as of Mandurriao National High School 2nd runner-up, Tribu Bayluhanay of San Joaquin, 3rd runner-up and Tribu Tultugan, 4th runner-up.
Tribu Saad also garnered the Best in Street Dancing award while the Best in Theme/Concept was won by Tribu Bayluhay.
Tribu Paghidaet will be Iloilo's representative to the annual Aliwan Festival held in Manila.
