Cebu Pacific now flies Manila-Calbayog

Calbayog City (February 19) -- Gokongwei-owned Cebu pacific (CEB), considered as the Philippines' largest domestic airline, started its thrice weekly Manila-Calbayog service on February 18, using its seventh brand new ATR 72-500 aircarft.

The new service will fly every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, CEB's Manila-Calbayog flights are sold at a sale "Go Lite" fare of P 488 all-in. This is valid for travel from May 1 to December 31, 2009.

After the seat sale, the lowest all-inclusive 'Go Lite' fare starts from P 1,188 all in.

Operating to new cities like Calbayog is part of the airline's nation building efforts.

"CEB is continuously expanding its domestic network because we want to help boost development within the country by linking islands together through an affordable means of transportation, " said Candice Iyog, CEB VP for marketing and distribution. "Easier access to these areas can lead more vibrant tourism and business activities."

"A faster, affordable and more convenient way to get to Samar encourages people to go home to their province more often. Or maybe even bring their friends to visit their hometowns. CEB is all about giving people more choices," Iyog said.

She added that the best way to book CEB flights is via the airline's website, "Booking on line is easy and quick."

On its maiden flight to Calbayog City today, CEB reached Calbayog City at 7:15 AM carrying some 67 passengers out of the 72 seats. It returned to Manila at 7:35 AM.

Sto. Nino Mayor Silvestre Asilo was spotted by PIA as one who joined the throngs of passengers on its maiden flight.

One Solito Dee whom CEB recognized as the first passenger to check in won a round trip ticket to Manila. He was awarded by CEB after the ribbon cutting and some words exchanged bet CEB and the city officials of Calbayog.

Presently, Calbayog City will be serviced by three airline companies namely: Zest Air, PAL and now Cebu Pacific. (PIA Samar NBQ/CEB) [top]
