Region 8 highlights best products of ARBs at 8th Agraryo Trade Fair
Tacloban City (June 3) -- The best and most impressive products of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in Region 8 will be displayed at the 8th Agraryo Trade Fair, Department of Agrarian Reform Region 8 Director John Maruhom disclosed.
The Agraryo Trade Fair is set to open June 3 and will run until June 7 at the SM Megatrade Hall B and will be participated in by the empowered Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries from all over the country, Director Maruhom said.
In keeping with the theme "Enterprising Agrarian Reform Communities: Creating Jobs, Empowering Farmers and Ensuring Food Safety," Region 8 will put into center stage the most impressive produce and products of the Agrarian Reform beneficiaries from the six provinces of Eastern Visayas.
Among others, the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in Region 8 will showcase their finest products like the nito handicraft and buri bags and bayong from Biliran; pusit and coco shell handicrafts from Southern Leyte; and binagol, moron, ampaw and instant salabat from the province of Leyte.
The Region 8 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries will also highlight the tikog mats and handicrafts and keseo of Samar province; danggit, handicrafts and instant salabat from Eastern Samar; and nata de coco from Northern Samar.
The Region 8 ARBs are also set to join the other special events during the Agraryo Trade Fair. This include, among others market/investment matching sessions, cooking demonstrations, photo exhibits of DAR's programs and projects, and seminars on product development and market trends.
A special treat to the Region 8 ARBs is the opportunity to network with manufacturers and get the best quality products at whole sale prices.
To make the most of their travel to the Trade Fair, the Region 8 ARBs will also join the lectures of their interest. These include the lecture on Indigenous Plants for Health and Wellness on June 3, 2:30-4:00pm; lecture on the Clustering Approach to Agro Enterprise Development for Small Farmers on June 4, 11:00 to12:00 noon; the Investment and Market Matching Forum on June 4, 12:30-4:30pm; the Ice Cream Making Using ARB Products on June 4, about 5:00-6:00 in the afternoon; the lecture on Honeybee Culture and Beekeeping on June 7, at 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon; and Smoked Tilapia Processing on June 7, from 2:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon.
