DAR, LGUs give P112.8 M for NVizcaya irrigation projects
Dupax Del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya (8 June) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and several Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province have jointly allotted their funds for the rehabilitation, construction and improvement of existing irrigation projects.
Joselito Garcia, provincial agrarian reform officer said the P112,800 fund was sourced out from their agency's Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) Phase III with P47,290,000 and the LGUs concerned with a total equity of P65,510,000.
The approved projects, he added were announced during the general assembly meeting of the Provincial Federation of Irrigators' Association(PFIA) at the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) compound in Bayombong town.
The recipient LGUs, he said were Alfonso Castaneda, particularly the Galintuja Communal Irrigation System(CIS) and the Lublub Communal Irrigation System (CIS); Dupax del Sur, particularly the Gabut-Manggayang CIS which covers Deppes and Gabut CIS and the Palabotan Integrated Communal Irrigation System (ICIS) covering Allawan, Arwat, I-iyo, Palabotan 1 and Palabotan 2 CIS and Dupax del Norte with Benay-Wangyon and Tacbao-Apayan CIS.
The irrigation systems are all located within the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs), Garcia explained.
