NSO ushers NSM media awards

Catbalogan, Samar (October 7) -- In celebration of the 20th national statistics month (NSM), the National Statistics Office (NSO) Samar ushers the 1st NSM Media Awards.
In a press release penned by Yvette Gaspay, it stated that the 1st NSM Media award will be given to a media reporter for valuing the extensive use of, as well as for the professional handling of statistics in his work.
He must also make significant contribution in promoting, popularizing and using statistics in information dissemination.
In Samar, a group of government and non government allies and advocates of statistics have formed a group called statistical community.
The team is behind the success of the activities during the celebration of Statistics Month.
They do not only perform the job expected of them but they also contribute money to fund the different activities like statistics quiz bee for senior high school students.
Another event that students look forward to is data appreciation seminar and a hands-on training of Statistical Package for Social Sciences. This is offered to students enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics (BSAS). Mr Guillermo Lagbo serves as the professor. (PIA-Samar) [top]
