DENR XI conducts P23-M land survey
Davao City (7 September) -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) XI is implementing a P23 million Cadastral Survey project seen to resolve conflict over political boundaries.
DENR Regional Director Jim O. Sampulna in a recent interview bared on-going moves of his office to officially delineate one town and barangay from the other through conducting the survey.
"This is one of the solutions of settling conflicts on political boundaries," he said in an interview.
Sampulna was in Bansalan, Davao del Sur Monday to officially launch the project in the area.
Aside from Bansalan, other areas covered under the Cadastral Survey project of DENR XI are New Corella in Davao del Norte; and New Bataan and Nabunturan in Compostela Valley.
Sampulna said local government executives are glad with the project for it will finally resolve their claims over periphery areas and establish their official local domain.
Aside from settling boundaries between barangays, towns and provinces within Region XI, the survey will also establish the official boundary between Davao Region and Central Mindanao, Sampulna said.
But Sampulna explained that recognition of boundaries starts from agreement reached through talks between and among executives of local government units and once they agree as to what area belongs to which LGU then the DENR will come in to conduct the survey. (PIA XI/JMDA) [top]
