DPWH Ifugao employs 661 workers

Lagawe, Ifugao (10 September) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) here employed 361 workers.
District Engineer Eugene Batalao,f said that the district office here was able to recruit 361 workers who were accommodated by contractors and another 300 workers who were employed on a rotation basis.
This was implemented through the memorandum of Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita on the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP), Batalao said. The said memo directs all regional directors and district engineers to support the job generation and livelihood program of the government.
Batalao said that the 300 Job Orders (JOs) were divided into two groups. "150 laborers were assigned in the Routine Carriage Way Maintenance and 150 were assigned in the roadside maintenance performing manual ditching, unclogging of canals and vegetation along the national road.
Included in the hiring are 34 out-of school-youth aged 18-24 years old. "Hiring the youth is in compliance with the Department's Memorandum implementing the Out-Of-School Youth Serving Towards Economic Recovery Program (OYSTER) which intends to give priority employment to the out of school youth, Batalao further said.
The DPWH under the construction section also hired 39 young engineers who were assigned to assist project engineers in the supervision of SONA and, regular projects and various pump-priming projects here. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
