ComVal holds "Galing Mason" check-up and orientation

Davao City (20 October) -- A medical check up for the participants of the Galing Mason training cum production and assessment was successfully conducted last October 16, 2009 at the Capitol lobby of Compostela Valley. The purpose of which is to make sure that all trainees are in good physical condition and fit to undergo training come October 23-30, in time for the 3rd Gawad Kalinga BAYANI Challenge in Kinuban, Maco.
According to Bob R. Mirasol, Provincial CTEC, a total of 80 participants, composed of 6 per municipality and 14 Kapitbahayan (beneficiaries of Uswag-GK Village), will officially undertake the training starting on October 20 for the 1st batch and on October 23 for the 2nd batch.
"Participants were identified through the assistance of PCRO's and Municipal CTECs. This is also our 2nd set of beneficiaries since we already trained skilled masons during the 1st Bayani Challenge held last January of this year," said Mirasol.
The activity is spearheaded by the Office of the Governor through the Technical Education Skills and Livelihood Training Program of the Special Programs Unit (PGO-SPU). While partner stake holders of the training are TESDA-Comval, HOLCIM Philippines, ACIW (Association of Construction and Informal Workers) and Gawad Kalinga.
