Tagum strengthens drive to protect environment
Davao City (20 October) -- Deputized by City Mayor Rey T. Uy, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) has strengthened its coordination to the barangays and schools which has resulted in the creation of the Barangay Solid Waste Management Enforcers and Student Environmentalists.
In line with the serious implementation of RA 9003 or otherwise known as AN ACT PROVIDING FOR AN ECOLOGICAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, the City Government of Tagum recognizes the trustworthiness of our environment watchers by giving them Certificate as Barangay Mankilam Solid Waste Enforcers and Tagum City National High School (TCNCHS) Student Environmentalists for their grateful and relentless commitment and exemplary performance in the environment sanitation and protection.
Such innovation ensures the protection of the public health and environment by utilizing environmentally-sound methods in maximizing the utilization of valuable resources. It also encourages source conservation and recovery with strength on the integration of ecological solid waste management recovery into the academic curricula of formal and non-formal education in order to promote environmental awareness and action among the citizenry.
The Barangay Solid Waste Management Enforcers are tasked to monitor, evaluate, and enforce in pursuance to RA 9003 or the Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. The enforcers conduct regular ocular visit and inspection in every households, puroks and
The Students Environmentalists are primarily engaged in campus monitoring pertaining to the solid waste management program. They too maintain the full operation of their school's Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF) within the school premises and coordinate with the Barangay in any of its solid waste program.
