Army conducts info drive among high school students
Camp Kalaw, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province (20 October) -- A total of 1,200 students of Monkayo National High School in Compostela Valley Province attended the information drive and youth leadership symposium conducted by the 25th Infantry (Fireball) Battalion at the Monkayo municipal gym.
The Army explained to the students the internal security situation and the importance of investing on the youth of today to help end the causes of insurgency. Likewise, the students were given exercises on leadership skills to prepare them achieve educational success.
They were given lectures that would guide them to become responsible citizens and give their share of contribution for progress. 1Lt Rey Annogui, the Civil Military Operations Officer of the 25th IB who served as the facilitator of the activity, complemented the performance and the high level of awareness of the students on their role as the future leaders of our country. This reflected the excellent performance of the teachers of the school in educating the students.
On the other hand Lt. Colonel Gilbert F Saret INF (GSC) PA, Commander of the 25th IB, turned over relevant books and other reading materials, sponsored by the Operation Blessings Foundation Inc. (OBFI) and sports equipment from PCSO to the Monkayo Central Elementary School on 15 October 2009, during its District Athletic Meet.
This reflects the unit's concern on education, and appreciation that by giving educational materials we are providing equal opportunity to the students to excel in their education. The youth are the future of leaders of our country. Providing them with proper education will ensure our country of a bright future.
The 25IB through their Research Team for Peace and Development is at present helping the Local Government of the Municipality of Monkayo in the conduct of Rapid Need Assessment for projects that will alleviate the living condition of the local populace and ultimately bring development in the area.
