Davao elementary school kids get DIPSSCOR supplemental feeding support

by Danny Escabarte

Davao City (29 October) -- Sixty nine (69) undernourished school children of Francisco Bangoy Central Elementary School in Sasa, Davao City will be the main beneficiary of a supplemental feeding program launched by Davao Integrated Port & Stevedoring Services Corporation (DIPSSCOR) during its 25th Founding Anniversary, Saturday morning, October 24.

The supplemental feeding program will be implemented by the school's parents, teachers association (PTA) and Sasa Barangay Council with support from DIPSSCOR- a local subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

Present during the simple launching and signing ceremony were DIPSSCOR General Manager Manuel M. de Jesus and PBSP Regional Manager for Mindanao Dr. Marylin B. Muncada.

Malnutrition has been identified as one of the reasons why school children skip classes, and eventually drop out of school when the problem becomes intense. Stakeholders to the supplemental feeding program hopes to improve malnourishment among the kids once the 6-months feeding project has been implemented. (Brgy. Sasa, Dvo) [top]
