UNDP funds child program in Tagum City
Davao City (29 October) -- In Tagum City, the Department of Interior and Local Government with the City Social Welfare and Development as the implementing agency is now into identification and prioritization of the needs for the Millennium Development Goal- family Based Actions for Children and their Environs in the Slums (MDG-FACES) at Purok Malinawon, Barangay East,
The area was identified to be the location of some depressed families who belong to the poorest of the poor but continue to survive with the meager means they have. The project is funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Target beneficiaries of forty children ages ranging from 17 below composed of twenty boys and twenty girls whose family income is not more than Php 3,000.00/monthly family with 2 children and above, both parents don't have permanent job, registered voter and willing to participate in the orientation, skills training, education, counseling and periodic report of the program.
The families identified by the Purok Leaders and Barangay Officials will be assisted and be given livelihood programs. However, only one child family will be accommodated in the program.
Each child shall have a Progress Report card which will be accomplished monthly by a designated evaluator. The report card consist of information whether the child will not go hungry and will be provided with the basic needs and nourishment; he goes to school
and finish primary education on time; gets care and support from both mother and father; he's healthy and has proper nutrition and immunization and the mother is healthy and well; aware of and not exposed to situations where he/she can get HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; he lives in a dream, healthy and safe environment and has access to decent and productive work as well as new technologies.
