Davao day care services assessed
Davao City (29 October) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office led the recent survey of day care services in the region covering 2397 respondents.
Dubbed State of the Art Review of Day Care Services in the Philippines, the survey research is a joint project of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Council, DSWD and local government units.
"This is the first comprehensive survey of day care workers, day care workers supervisors and day care centers," said DSWD Davao Region Chief and Head of the Regional Survey Team Ester Acebedo-Versoza. Results of which would largely help in policy formulation, crafting of legislative agenda, designing focused strategies, and improvement of Day Care Service delivery in the country, Acebedo-Versoza explained.
Moreover, this nationwide survey aims to produce a Comprehensive Profile of Day Care Centers, Day Care Workers, and City and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers in the Philippines.
Survey Proctors are DSWD Focal Person on Day Care Service, ECCD Regional Coordinator, ECCD Technical Staff, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, Provincial ECCD Officer, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, and trained Regional and LGU staff.
Based on DSWD Data for First Quarter of 2009, there are 48,391 day care centers all over the country serving 1,437,900 children with 48,162 day care workers who are mostly volunteers. (DSWD XI/degsduron) [top]
