USWAG GK Village in Kinuban flooded with delicious arroz caldo
Compostela Valley (30 October) -- The GK Village of Barangay Kinuban, Maco flooded not with water but with delicious arozz caldo as Compostela Valley Provincial Council of Women sponsors "Libreng Lugaw, Alay Ng CVPCOW" last Tuesday, October 27, 2007 during the 3rd Bayani Challenge.
Nearly, 200 women from different sectors gathered together to voluntarily cook delicious arozz caldo for the 2,500 volunteers/bayani's of Gawad Kalinga. Said activity was the initiative of the Provincial Governors Office under the Women Development Program in partnership with CVPCOW Officers headed by the first lady of the province, Eunese L. Uy who personally provided all the ingredients for the 30 groups/cooking team. She also supervised the cooking and distribution of arozz caldo to different volunteers.
In turn, the volunteers (builders and cooking team) were very happy with the free merienda and gratefully ate the delicious and steaming dish with gusto. "This is a very good experience! Even though its hard, yet fulfilling. At least we're able to help our kapwa in our own little ways. For us volunteers, I think we've done a very good job in our province. Also, we develop our skills together with the spirit of cooperation, unity, and camaraderie," said Ann Mara T. Mencidor of Nabunturan.
Mrs. Eunese L. Uy provided 10,000.00 to all members of the cooking team as a way of expressing thanks to their cooperation and support. "Lahat ay masarap, lahat sila winner," Uy ended. (R. Manugas-IDS COMVAL) [top]
