317 apply in jobs fair in Kalinga

Tabuk, Kalinga (5 December) -- 317 jobseekers registered in the job fair last week sponsored by the province, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment provincial office.

Out of the 317, 292 are qualified and were invited for interview for jobs overseas, while 20 were scheduled for interview for local employment.

Provincial Labor and Employment Officer Avelina Manganip said six recruitment agencies duly registered with the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration (POEA) came over for the job fair.

The other 20 applied with Smartmatic for possible hiring for the conduct of the 2010 automated elections in the province, Manganip said.

Manganip said placement results for the applicants shall come out after three months, after the screening process.

Those who were offered job opportunities abroad this time, are mostly skilled workers, indicating the increasing demand for skilled Filipino workers in other countries, Manganip noted. She advised applicants to prepare the necessary documents.

Manganip stressed that placement fees shall be charged only when working visas and work contracts are ready.

It is always safe to apply with recruitment agencies recommended by the DOLE, since these are properly registered with the POEA that provides security and welfare to Overseas Filipino Workers, she said. L. Lopez(PIA-Kalinga) [top]
