Banks observe National Banking Week
Tacloban City (January 6) -- Banks all over the country observe the National Banking Week on January 1-7 pursuant to Proclamation No. 2250 dated December 10, 1982 which declared the first week of every January as National Banking Week.
The observance aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the vital role of banking in national development.
The observance also brings to fore the fact that in order to contribute its utmost in the service of the nation, the banking community must have the support of and develop a healthy partnership with the public.
In order to unify the campaign, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Armando Tetangco, Jr. has issued a Circular Letter to all commercial banks enjoining them to undertake during the period, promotional and publicity generating activities.
These activities may be in the form of advertising, window and counter displays or streamers. Other activities which may be undertaken are the distribution of give aways, raffles and similar incentives and devices.
The banks have also been requested to incorporate the theme, "Pagbabangkong Masigla, Kaatuwang sa Maunlad na Ekonomiya" in all their promotional materials and print advertisements during the period. ôSa Mahusay na Pagbabangko, Uunlad ang Negosyo, Dadami ang Trabaho."
Further, BSP Governor Tetangco also requested the banks to include the phrase "National Banking Week, 1 to 7, January 2010" in the promotional materials and print advertisements during the week-long observance.
Thus, it has been observed that banks all over Eastern Visayas have streamers proclaiming the observance of the National Banking Week on January 1-7. Many of the banks were also observed to be distributing their give-aways to their valued clientele.
