NPAs terrorize Davao Oriental barangays, says military

Davao City (7 January) -- Treacherous and insincere, two words that best describe the recent CPP/NPA/NDF criminal activities in the province of Davao oriental. For the past three weeks, elements of Guerilla Front 15 and Guerilla Front 18 have been terrorizing the residents of Barangay Rizal and Barangay Taocanga both of Muncipality of Manay, Davao Oriental.

For the first time in the peaceful town of Manay, the people felt the threat of their lives from the CPP/NPA that forced the schools of Brgy Taocanga to stop their classes for eleven days started last December 07, 2009 that affected 701 students and 17 teachers.

Innocent civilians left their homes and seek the help of the Local Government Officials for fear of their lives during that period. Armed elements of communist terrorists have been extorting food and money and forcing the residents to attend meetings to deceive them and forced them to join the NPA.

The Philippine Army ensures the safety and security of the people sensing the urgency of the situation. The Battalion Commander of 67th IB, PA, LTC HENRY M DOYAOEN immediately deployed troops in the area last December 28, 2009.

While elements of 67th IB were routinely patrolling in the area to secure the residents of Brgy Rizal and Brgy Taocanga, armed elements of communist terrorist treacherously detonated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to assault the Government forces in the area. The troops led by 1LT CALAYO, Commander of Bravo Company valiantly fought the communist terrorists forcing them to withdraw. Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) Improvised Explosive Device (IED), improvised hand grenade and several ammunitions for high caliber rifle.

Another incident which involves the CT's treacherous act transpired last December 17, 2009 in Boston Davao Oriental wherein they fired upon the CAFGU's while helping and securing the equipment of the Government flagship project in the area.

Their crime led to the murder of one female civilian and two CAFGU's and frustrated murder to CAFGU's who defend their comrades. This assault to law enforcement units are clear manifestations of the CT's criminal minds, and clear disregard to civilians and denial of development in the area for our citizens. It is also a glaring manifestation of their insincerity in their proclamation in the media that they are for the masses hiding their true color of being murderers, arsonists, extortionists and exploiters of the people.

They have showed time and again that they have no regards for the lives and safety of innocent civilians so long as they get what they want. Generally, for more than 41 years the CPP/NPA/NDF in the country continue conducting criminal acts against the Filipino people.

The Communist Party of the Philippines had been for so long deceiving our youth to join the NPA's and use them for their own evil desire and greed and turn them to commit crimes. In effect our innocent youth are late to realize or even didn't realize that they are becoming criminals. (101D) [top]
