MDG-FACES launches in Tagum City

Davao City (15 January) -- The Millennium Development Goals Family-Based Actions for Children and their Environs in the Slums (MDG-FACES) was formally launched in the City of Tagum on January 14 at Barangay East with the identified 40 children beneficiaries accompanied with their parents who are residing at Purok Malinawon.
In Region 11 alone, only Tagum City is the recipient of the program which is spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
"You have a very dedicated Mayor Uy who can efficiently implement the program, we are confident that the program will become effective here in Tagum City," DILG Regional Director Quirino Libunao said during the program.
Objective of the program aims to answer the challenges of the millennium on the issues of education, nutrition, and community development. Parents of beneficiaries are as well not deprived because of some activities on livelihood programs or technical trainings in manicure, pedicure, t-shirt printing and many others that could incorporate in FACES program.
Vice Mayor Allan Rellon, who spoke in behalf of Mayor Rey Uy, elaborates on the commitment of the officials to extend to the people any social services program available to make the lives of Tagumeños better.
"Thanks to our officials who show deep concern to our real situation. You have made worth to our existence," says a beneficiary-parent Mrs. Anatalia Llega who spoke in Visayan Dialect.
The launching was gracefully attended by Coun. Mylene Baura, Coun. Joey Millan, Coun. Rey Salve, City DILG Director Lisa Mendoza, DILG Provincial Director Gregorio Versoza. Together with the core team from DepEd, Social Welfare, Information Office, Health, Planning, Budget, Accounting, Treasurer, Tourism, CENRO, Agriculture, Engineering.
