SSS members can now have easy access to internet
Davao City (12 February) -- Members of the Social Security System (SSS) can now have easy and affordable access to the Internet and allow them to check their SSS payments, verify loan eligibility and enjoy other SSS services through SSS website.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Romulo Neri said SSS has tapped the facilities of a nationwide internet café chain to widen access of members and employers to SSS website services such as online viewing of contribution records and downloading of forms.
Members would get discounts from 20 to 25 percent of the P40 to P60 rate per hour of Internet browsing at any Netopia branch starting this month (February) 2010.
Netopia offers fast and secure Internet connection in more than 140 branches all over the country in strategic locations such as shopping malls, commercial areas and MRT stations.
The pension fund is improving its electronic service facilities to speed up transactions with the growing SSS membership, which covers private sector companies and employees, house helpers, self-employed and migrant workers.
"We aim to maximize technology to make SSS transactions faster, easier and more convenient and this includes enhancing the SSS website," Neri said, adding that expansion of website features to include filing off loans and benefit claims are in the pipeline.
Neri signed recently the SSS-Netopia agreement with Goerge Tan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digital Paradise, Inc., which owns Netopia, at the SSS corporate headquarters in Diliman, Quezon City.
Members can now view their posted contributions and other SSS payments, check their eligibility and status of applications for claims and loans and download forms at www.ssss.glov.ph. (PIA XI/SSS Davao) [top]
