By Jennifer Catan-Tilos

Dumaguete City (12 February) -- The distribution of 22 certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Siquijor provincial office highlighted the Halad sa Katawhan activity held at the municipal gymnasium of Lazi, Siquijor.

Presidential Adviser for Central Visayas Felix Guanzon, Provincial Governor Orlando Fua Jr., and DAR officials handed over the CLOAs to 11 Agrarian Reform Communities or farmer-representatives.

An estimate of 8 hundred residents of Lazi took advantage on the free services of some 30 national participating agencies in the Halad sa Katawhan which part of the priority project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA) to bring the government service to the people.

Governor Fua expressed appreciation to all national agencies for coming together to reach out to the very poor residents in the municipality of Lazi who went down from the hinterland barangays to avail the services they need.

Fua pledged to bring the Halad to all six municipalities of Siquijor Island so that no one in his province will be left out in receiving assistance from the national government.

In the same activity, Brigadier General Cesar Yano of the 302nd Infantry Brigade pleased to announce that the province of Siquijor continues to be peaceful and so the presence of Philippine Army is not necessary in the island. (PIA/JCT) [top]
