JCI Durian City gears up for 2010
Davao City (13 February) -- Starting 2010 with the slogan that vows to "Be 100 percent better", the JCI Durian City Inc. hosted the 1st Area Council Meeting (ACM) of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Area 5 here recently, gathering more than 20 local organizations from Mindanao, and commencing a series of activities geared towards leadership development and socio-civic awareness.
"The ACM is a quarterly meeting of local organization presidents from Mindanao wherein they meet, learn, share and decide on key issues that is significant to the area," said Luciano Frederick Puyod III, president of JCI Durian City Chapter.
The event was followed by four regional council meetings (RCM), the 1st JCI Senate Investiture of the Chapter, 9th Installation of JCI Durian City Officers and two leadership courses for JCI members.
The two JCI leadership courses conducted were dubbed as "JCI Achieve" and "JCI Admin", which culminated last January 31.
"The JCI Achieve offered participants full understanding on the local organization's identity, its purpose and what to do to accomplish the JCI Mission of developing opportunities to create positive change as young and active citizens, while JCI Admin is aimed at giving a management direction of the local organization affairs, including the conduct of meetings, planning and the importance of having community activities for the achievement of JCI's Mission," said Puyod.
He added that a lot of projects that aim to change lives of local communities are lined up for the year, which includes training and business and community development.
"Anchored to the JCI Philippines theme of "Be better", the organization aligned its 2010 theme with "Be 100% better," said Puyod.
The Junior Chamber International Inc. is a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40. National Organizations federated to JCI are active in more than 100 nations and territories. JCI Philippines has 6,000 members in 250 chapters nationwide with mission to develop opportunities to empower young people to create positive change. (JCI Phils) [top]
